Growth  in the number of community interest companies announced at the Voice 07 conference

The Regulator of Community Interest Companies (CICs), John Hanlon, is delighted to announce that the CIC Office will be represented at the social enterprise Voice 07 conference at the Manchester International Convention Centre on Wednesday, 24th January 2007.

This is the second year that the CIC Office has exhibited at the conference, and John is hoping that as many people as possible will take the opportunity to meet with the team.  At Voice 06, one year ago, 100 community interest companies had formed.  At Voice 07 it will be announced that this has risen in the last 12 months to nearly 700.   When the creation of CICs was being debated in the House of Commons it was anticipated that "initially there may be between 100 and 300 new community interest companies registered each year".
