COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANIES IN NORTHERN IRELAND

The Companies Act 2006 (Commencement No. 2, Consequential Amendments, Transition Provisions and Savings) Order 2007 has been laid before Parliament under section 1290 of the Companies Act 2006 and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament.  This Order came into force on 6th April 2007.  

Forms and guidance for Northern Ireland are now available, and can be delivered to the Registrar of Companies.  It is now possible to form, or to convert to, a community interest company registered in Northern Ireland and applications should be sent to:

Company legislation and more specifically the Companies (Audit, Investigations and Community Enterprise) Act 2004 and the Community Interest Company Regulations 2005 apply to organisations or companies applying to form as community interest companies.
